Outage due to hardware failure.
Seems my server hardware is slowly dying a horrible death. However sad it might be for that hardware, it has allowed me to get together a better server while I still have the old server on life support. This means for the next few hours the website might be slow or down. Don’t fear though it’s pretty much a controlled burn and things will be back to normal shortly on better hardware. Thanks for your patience.
**update**
Just did final sync from the old server. Things are looking goo, let me know if you see any issues. Thanks

Synergy Linux 3 Nightly releases
I have been able to create a VERY early Synergy Linux 3 release. It’s basically just Fedora 16 pre alpha. So really it’s a pre Alpha based on a pre Alpha. The real difference right now is size, I’m only around 600MB, psmem is included, the Synergy Release file with Synergy repos, and my own semi-forked version of yum (just to allow Synergy and Fedora to have different versions but still one release source rpm). In any case new ISOs get built every night and every night the previous one is replaced. I am currently using tod’ays (12-Aug) to post this.
Included in these ISOs are the latest greatest Kernel 3.0 and KDE 4.7, along with a ton more updates that the Fedora team so far has done a great job on. I did have some issues installing from the livecd it took multiple times to get through setting up my drive. I just played with it till I got it too work. However this next nightly may not have the same issue, but expect issues never the less. I’m really not taking reports at this time too serious but if you would like to report something on the forums then please include not just your issue but also the time and day you downloaded the ISO as the ISO is updated daily.

Synergy Linux 3 work has started, based on Fedora 16
Basically the title says it all. I have just (as in now) been able to get a build server setup for Fedora 16. Slowly packages will start being built for Fedora 16 and then Synergy Linux 3 test phase will begin. My hope is too release final around the same time as Fedora 16, end of October.

Synergy Linux 2 Officially released.
Today marks Synergy Linux’s first official public release. Synergy Linux 1 was a development release just in house that never saw the light of day. Though repositories and various things existed for it, Synergy Linux 1 was more of a proof of concept. Synergy Linux 2 marks an entry into the desktop market on a public scale.
Synergy Linux differs from Fedora 15 (from which it is based) in multiple ways. Here are a few:
1. Allows install on lower memory machines (512M Min.)
2. Has the ability to install compressed and run Live with persistent changes from the LiveMedia.
3. Comes with the latest packages for KDE
Current core applications include:
Kernel – 2.6.38.8
KDE – 4.6.5
Xorg – 1.10.3
Torrents can be found here:
The local ISOs can be found in their normal location:

Update on Beta 3 Progress
It’s been almost 2 Weeks before the last Beta Release. No need too fear Beta 3 (most likely the last Beta) is on it’s way. I just took a bit more time more this next release to simmer. Most of the work with this next release has been focused on the kdesetup application that I have been modifying for Synergy Linux. It was originally from Pardus and called Kaptan, but ended up being just what I needed for an initial setup program for KDE and in the future maybe the system as a whole. Some changes have gone into making it more usable for smaller resolutions (ie. 800×480). I have also changed some things from the Synergy themeing point of view to try and give more options but not use a ton of space with those options.
I haven’t gotten much feedback with Beta 2 (a lot of downloads though), however I have gotten some negative feedback from one user stating the CD wouldn’t boot. This user however didn’t give me , hardware, arch, version or any further information, they also left no way for me to contact them back as they left a comment on the blog instead of the forums. These things missing unfortunately mean this post will be ignored
unless more information is given from other users or this same user I have nothing to go on. Each Synergy Linux Release (from Beta 1 on) was tested in two virtual environments and two physical machines (Beta 2 is running this site). Also I use the same boot system as Fedora so if there’s issues up stream then there will be issues in Synergy and if there’s not issues upstream then most likely there’s something else wrong (bad burn etc..) please check md5sums and download from either here locally or Linux tracker. Be leery of any site that doesn’t point back to this site for downloads or Linux Tracker. If you do run into major issues please leave feedback on the forums in the bugs thread so that I can get needed information from you. Thanks.

New App, KDE Setup
There’s a new application I have added to the CD. It’s called KDE Setup. For some of you it may look familar. I borrowed it from Pardus (known as Kaptan, there) renamed it, took out Smolt, (for now) and I am integrating the Synergy Feedback application into it. It works for the most part other then the wallpappers don’t show a preview image because the default Fedora wallpaper and Syenrgy wallpaper aren’t true wallpaper themes. I am going to see if I can fix this ie. have the application handle non wallpaper themes better. We’ll see. You can play with KDE Setup on one of the nightlys (more to come on that) by running kdesetup in konsole. You can also grab the rpm, it’s called kdesetup or compile it out of SVN.
